YOUR IMAGINATION KNOWS NO BOUNDARIES WITH ECO~RK LEATHER
CORK FLOORING
Thanks to it's cellular structure and naturally healthy properties, the benefits of cork include how it's:
Quiet & Acoustic - reducing sound transfer and echo
Warm & Insulating - regulating room temperature
Environmentally Friendly - renewable and sustainable (see sustainability below)
Soft & Comfortable - like walking on air, thanks to over 2 million enclosed air cells/square inch
Hypoallergenic & Anti-Fungal - helping those with allergies and sensitives

Sagrada Família in Barcelona

Cork flooring was installed in the Sagrada Familia's crypt to improve acoustics and provide thermal comfort, but not across the entire floor of the main cathedral.
The cork flooring was specifically chosen for the crypt, the lower, liturgical section of the church, by architect Jordi Bonet i Armengol, one of Gaudí's successors. The decision was made for several functional reasons:
Acoustics: Cork is an excellent sound-absorbing material, which helps muffle footsteps and reduce echo, fostering a reflective and quiet atmosphere suitable for prayer and Mass.
Thermal Insulation: Cork is a natural thermal insulator, making the surface feel warm to the touch and contributing to a comfortable environment.
Comfort and Durability: The material is slightly springy, providing comfort for those who spend long periods standing or kneeling, and it is finished with a high-durability lacquer to withstand high traffic.
The use of natural, sustainable cork also aligns with Antoni Gaudí's philosophy of using natural materials and taking inspiration from nature. The main floor of the basilica, in contrast, primarily uses various types of stone and reinforced concrete in its construction.
